The about the Society section introduces you to our society, our aims and objectives, and activities.
The Speaker's Programme is the cornerstone of our society. It allows us to meet once a month and listen to lectures on Ancient Egyptian topics, ranging from architecture, pharaohs, queens, sculpture and art, to gods, mythology, magic and everyday life in ancient Egypt. We also use it as an opportunity to compare notes and discuss theories over a cup of coffee. You can view the biographies of our speakers as they become available.
Apart from meeting once a month, we also organise various
Society Membership and Contact the Society have been put on the site to help you with the process of joining our society, or working with us on an activity dedicated to Ancient Egypt. Don't be shy to contact our Chairperson or Webmaster with any query. As part of the service to our society members, we distribute a monthly e-mail on ancient Egyptian archaeological news.
The Library is our physical collection of books on ancient Egypt and related topics. These books can be borrowed by members at our monthly meetings.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is modern Egypt's tribute to the great library of antiquity. The AES South African Friends of the Bibliotheca Alexandria, a subgroup of the Ancient Egyptian Society, are members of the Bibalex and currently the only group of this nature in South Africa.
